Wedding Food Ideas: Tango Your Guests Up
A Belgian friend of mine asked me where to go to have good food and my boyfriend said spontaneously “go to any Italian food restaurant”. I mean, really, why he didn’t answer with a certain restaurant or dining place, like “I like to dine at Tony Roma’s”. I got home, curious, what is the world’s most favored food, I googled it and the answer was Italian food.
Rice was the runner up. Andrew Carmellini, an executive chef for a Voce restaurant in New York City, named Best New Chef by Food & Wine magazine, says, “The Italian food moment never dies”. Just like James Bond, isn’t it? If Italian food is approved to be the best favorite food in the world then it is the best wedding food among all wedding food ideas. Best of all, you don’t need to worry that your guests won’t like and waste your wedding reception foods.
Italian Wedding dining is a permutation of at least four different courses. Written below are the emblematic menus.
The Starters (Antipasti)
This is what we usually call the appetizers. What served typically is a Crostini, lightly grilled sliced bread spread with steamed chicken liver, or the eminent Bruschetta, lightly grilled sliced French or Italian bread spread with toppings: diced tomato, garlic, and Italian herbs. These appetizers are accompanied by a glass of prosecco, Italian dry champagne. Sounds inviting, aren’t they?
First Course (Primo Piatto)
This is the pasta or salad portion of the dining. The salad usually served is the Panzella, tomato salad with bread crumbs. For the pasta, choose three or four kinds from tremendous kinds of pastas. A total delicacy!
Second Course (Secondo Piatto)
This is the meat portion of the dining. The meat can be beef, veal, rabbit, hare, wild boar, lamb, et cetera. Italian prefers them grilled. These dishes are accompanied with side dishes in the form of seasonal veggies, cooked or lightly grilled aubergine, stringy beans, beans, peas, et cetera.
Desserts (Dolci)
Gelati, Italian enriched ice cream and tiramisu are usually served as desserts. You can alter the choice with fresh fruits and salted Pane Sciocco, Italian unsalted bread, and it will be less expensive and practical for weddings.
Wine and Digestives (Vino e Liquori)
You can alter this with mineral water for extra money savings, but it will be an ultimate luxury if you serve either red or white wine, or maybe both! Other wines usually served are Montalcino and Brunello. Some may also serve Limoncello, lemon liqueur or Grappa, served with coffee.
Your guests will compliment your wedding for years! It is also very important for you, brides, to give yourselves grips for you may go crazy for your wedding reception foods!
